County Durham PCT has issued guidelines which require the practice to limit the length of repeat prescriptions to 28 days. At present the practice is amending prescriptions where no prescription charge is levied (for example if you are over 60 or can claim exemption from charges because of having hypothyroidism etc). It is perceived that this rule will reduce waste and therefore increase efficiency. County Durham PCT address is:
