Attention all patients
Please note that from Wednesday, 23 March the Urgent Care Centre at Peterlee Community Hospital, O’Neill Drive, will open as a 24-hour walk-in centre.
This will allow you to be treated closer to home for minor ailments and injuries, without the need to attend an Accident & Emergency Department.
Any patient in the district can attend the centre. No appointment is necessary and the centre is open seven days a week.
Patients can be treated for:
· fractures and sprains
· whiplash injuries
· minor cuts and wounds
· ear and throat infections
· chest infections
· Vomiting/ and or abdominal pain
· skin complaints
· Diarrhoea
· emergency contraception
On evenings and weekends patients no longer have to call the out of hours number to make an appointment for the Urgent Care Centre. They can simply walk in.
However, when GP surgeries are closed, patients who feel too unwell to travel or are unable to get to the Urgent Care Centre for other reasons should call 0191 430 2592. This replaces the existing out of hours number.
If you are severely ill or have had a very serious accident: go to your nearest Accident & Emergency Department or ring 999.
